Part of a series of races and runs throughout the year in Long Beach, the Kiefer Swim-Paddle-Run is held annually in honor of Michael V. Kiefer, a Long Beach native who served as a New York City Firefighter and gave his life on September 11, 2001. Race check-in begins at 7:30 am on Sunday, July 27, 2025, on Riverside Boulevard Beach. The event gets underway at 8:45 with a 150-yard dash to the swim entry point, a 400-yard ocean swim, and a half-mile paddleboard segment, finishing with a 1.5-mile beach run.

Saturdays in Long Beach mean it's time for Arts in the Plaza, a local craft and art fair that takes place every Saturday from Memorial Day to Halloween. The market sets up from 9 am to 2 pm in Kennedy Plaza in the heart of Long Beach, and attendees can browse an incredible array of local handmade products ranging from fine art and photography prints to clothing, jewelry, and leather goods.
